(How to) Question... I'm New, Please be nice... :)

vendredi 30 septembre 2016
Hello,

I'm VERY new to MQL4 Programming, etc.. so please be nice... :)

Anyways, I have an EA, that I want to add Trend Following into... I have an Indicator that I like, which shows the up/down trend in a percentage, which seems to update on each tick... I want to store this up/down percentage for lets say an hour or two, and get the average of each after the hour (or what ever time frame a select)... This way I can use this average within my EA to determine if a position will be opened or not...

So I've got the indicator and EA talking to each other a little bit, the EA can see the up or down percentage at any given time, but the problem there is that if there's a sudden spike or drop at the second the EA is checking, it might receive a false reading... So I figured if I was to average the data over a period of time, it would be a more accurate reading...

So is there an easy way to do this?

Thanks,

This is a simple indicator which can draw anything on a chart of the MetaTrader terminal.

If the VR-Draw button is clicked, the following can be selected:
Color,
Width,
Erase (delete all drawings).
This is a convenient way to communicate with other traders and share your predictions and assumptions with them, as well as make notes for yourself.

The program is developed by the founder of Trading-Go Projects.

(Share) Are you fed up of trading complicated trading systems? here is a simple method that

jeudi 29 septembre 2016
hi friends

I was trading with lots of systems.
But the one method which I liked i here.
I used it for daytrading AND made profits.

I was using GMMA method and some other methods which made losses due to complex basics for interpretatiuon. later i used MAC and recovered lossesand made profits.
reason?
it is so simple and you spot trend correctly and fast.
the method belongs to JAKE BERNSTEIN.
JAKE is a self made trader.
he took 15 years to become a good trader.
Jake always asked one question.
if your method is good enough,it must be possible to test it using a computer and find if it has a winning edge.
if you show your trading chart to a 1000 traders,all must see and understand same thing.
ask any trader to find elliott waves on a chart and if you ask 10 traders every guy sees different waves with different begin and end points.
this is a subjctive method and jake doesnt like subjective methods.
similarly ask guys to drawtrendlines. everybody comes out with different trendline-no two lines are close.
the method is called MAC (10ma of HIGH 8 ma of LOW with price.)
====================
what works?
what worked for me?
the answer is MAC
moving average channel.
just create a line simple moving average of highs of 10 periods
create another moving average of lows of 8 periods with another color
ADD PRICE BARS.
Buy when price bar makes two closes above ma 10 of highs.
sell when price bar makes two consecutive closes below ma 8 of lows.
you can use ma10 high line as stoploss. for shorts you can use ma8 of lows as stoploss.
target can be n times of distance between the channels.
you can use n times ATR from entry.
the method is available here on this forum.
you can add ma 57 of williams advance decline for volume as support basis.
all the best.

Marc Lasry: Making Great Wealth from Taking Risks

jeudi 29 septembre 2016
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MASTER TRADERS – PART 18

“Get no joy, except a superficial joy, out of winning. Get no sadness, except a superficial sadness, out of losing. Get to the point where it must almost be an act on your part to be joyful or to be sad - and not the opposite, as it is with most traders. Always remember that your joy and sadness come from and with the most meaningful aspects of your life - family, friends, acts of giving and loving and creating. Not trading.” – Andy Jordan (Source: Tradingeducators.com)

Name: Marc Lasry
Nationality: Moroccan, American
Age: 56
Occupation: Investor, fund manager, co-owner of Milwaukee Bucks

HE EARNED AN INCOME OF $280 MILLION IN 2013
Marc was born in Morocco. His family moved to the U.S. when he was 7 years old. His dad was a computer programmer and his mom was a teacher.

He got his B.A from Clark University in 1981; plus a J.D. from New York Law School in 1984. He worked as a clerk while in law school. He then worked at Angel & Frankel, following his graduation.

In 1989, he and his sister, Sonia Gardner, founded Amroc Investments. Amroc Investments was founded with $100 million, purchasing and trading claims and bank debt held by vendors of bankrupt and/or distressed companies. In 1995, they founded Avenue Capital Group, investing $7 million of their own capital. His sister had often worked with him.

Their hedge fund grew to be as much as $11 billion in AUM. Marc was ranked one of the 25 highest-earning hedge fund managers in 2013, with total earnings of $280 million.

He became a co-owner of the NBA's Milwaukee Bucks after purchasing the team from Herb Kohl for $550 million. That was April 2014.

Marc lives in New York, USA. Being a generous giver, he’s donated to science, education and politics. He’s a lover of basketball, tennis and comics.

As of September 2015, he was worth $1.9 billion. He’s married to Cathy Cohen – they got 5 children.

What You Need to Know:
1. Marc was blessed to have a sister who supported him and worked along with him. Concerning this, Marc revealed that he with his sister Sonia Gardner, was a forerunner to Avenue Capital Group. It was just the two of them and a secretary when they started – they were both working 14-hour days, 7 days a week. They slowly built one of the largest private distressed debt brokerage firms that existed at the time, and expanded Amroc to more than 50 employees. At the same time, for five years, they also ran their own money, just his sister and him. What can you learn here? I became a trader because my uncle called me many years ago, asking me to go learn trading because it was popular then. Today, I’m grateful that he advised me to do this. Sometimes, a piece of advice may be worth more than millions of dollars.

2. When you work with, or along with professionals, your life is easier. For example, Elon Musk surrounds himself with professionals and that’s one of the reasons why he appears to know much. Surround yourself with professionals, even work with them, and the results would be satisfactory. Marc met exceptionally smart guys at Bass: David Bonderman, Jim Coulter, Tom Barrack, and many others. It was a phenomenal period, and he quickly realized he was dealing with guys who were off-the-wall smart and really good guys – nice, smart people.

3. Marc looks at himself as a value investor. Trying to constantly find mispriced investments and add value in a situation. For him, investing means having conviction in your work and companies where you invest, even when the Street has written them off.

4. There’s no need to be concerned about how good a setup is, but we want to be concerned about how we can be protected in case things go wrong.

5. Good traders make profits because they view trading, price, etc. differently than what most people see. When the market reacts in panic, the public know. However, good traders analyze the scenario, assess the pitfalls and take actions.

6. No-one is too big to fail. No trader can avoid losses. No-one is immune from risk. Everybody can make it in life.

7. When you leave what you think is the best job for you, you might discover trading to be better. You won’t regret being a trader.

8. Marc says, “We are constantly searching, trying to find value, typically in troubled companies. And then we try to buy those assets at a discount. In contrast, most investors try to find companies that have no problems. And, when companies have problems, people get nervous. We look at the world very differently than most investors.”

Conclusion: There are many advanced traders who focus on the process of trading instead of money. They approach trading as if approaching sports (and like martial arts). They know they should approach trading as experts tackle opponents in matches. We tend to think illogically when we trade, which isn’t a normal mindset for traders.

This article is ended with another quote from Marc:

“People think we got to $20 billion overnight, but it wasn’t as easy as it seems. We had the background. We had good returns. We had the infrastructure, and we had good people. And, importantly, we had high-quality, stable, long-term investors that allowed us to raise money in a difficult fundraising environment. We were also lucky that we were in the right place at the right time.”

Hello people,

This EA is attached for testing. Long term plan is to take it commercial but for now it is a work-in-progress. Grab it while it's free. The attached version expires on Christmas day(2016). Those that make a decent contribution to the testing process will receive a free copy of the final version for one account.

Just a couple of points about the process.....I am obviously looking for feedback but I am only one person. I may not be able to respond quickly or to you personally for every issue. Also note, that I am not going to consider endless modifications for the EA to suit your trading. I will make it as broad as I can to accommodate most scenarios but there are limits. I will also not be taking requests for additional work.

Very important!......I am not here to teach you how to run MT4, how to install EA's or how to get them running. If you do not know how to do these things, then this EA is not for you and you should move on to another EA.

Ok, about the EA.....this is a multi-currency EA and you run it on the M15 chart(any chart but make it an active one like EURUSD or GBPJPY), although you can experiment with TF for M1 to H1. It has been built around M15 so I have no idea how it trades on other TF. I suspect M5 may be ok and I would expect H1 would not work at all or would provide very few trades. It is also the first of 2 EA's that I am working on, the second being based on a breakout strategy. That is still to follow......

Be aware that this EA will trade every single instrument in the marketwatch window, even CFD's and Indices. TIP.....set up the instruments you wish to trade in the marketwatch window before running the EA.

It goes without saying that it is very resource intensive.....FXPro has 280 instruments available for trading and the EA looks at every one of them. Please consider a dedicated testing account for this EA. You need inspect the Experts tab for errors on a regular basis. Because of the volume of trading instruments, this EA can generate a lot of messages if there is a critical error. This will crash your terminal eventually if it goes unnoticed.

You can trade demo or live account but you trade live account at high risk as even I am not running this on real money yet. Refer to known issues at the end of the post........

You cannot backtest this EA because it is multi-currency. I have created a single currency version that I play with. I may or may not release it at a later stage but that remains to be seen. In fact, the strategy you see here is one example. You can look at the other strategies in my profile to get an idea of other instruments.

Settings :-

Catch_Pips_Fact= 2
Use_Catch_Pips = true
Use_Extend_Profit = true

Catch_Pips is a simple trailing SL routine. Once your trade is halfway(Catch_Pips_Fact(or) = 2 ) to TP, it will start running a SL that is equal to the Pips to go to TP. So the closer you get to TP, the tighter the trailing stop becomes.
Extend_Profit is an extension of this function but is still under development....for now the setting does nothing.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Time_Frame = PERIOD_M15;

Simple check to ensure that the chart TF matches the EA timeframe. Does nothing else.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Own_Symbol_Only = false;

Use if you only wish to trade the symbol that the EA is placed on. This is completely untested at this stage so I'm not sure it works properly.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Cease Making NEW trades

This stops the EA from taking new trades. The EA will continue to manage existing trades until they are all closed out.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Initial Order Type

Limit order or stop orders. I am interested in which performs better......backtesting is inconclusive.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Use bargaining Stop-Orders

This is a routine that I created that allows the EA to adjust the price of stop-order entries as price action changes. Further down the setting you will notice a setting called Stop_Space......this tells the EA to lay a stop order x pips away from the current price. Looking at a buy order for example......EA finds a EURUSD trade @ 1.1108 and lays a SO at 1.1110(2 pips). If the price continues down to 1.1100, it will cancel the SO and make a new one at 1.1102, so effectively your entry price will be 8 pips better. Sounds nice in theory but I have reservations. If price action does not turn where expected perhaps the market is saying something and the trade should rather be allowed to expire.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Initial_Lots = 0.1;

Money management applies so this trade sizing represents what will be trades in EURUSD on $10 000 account. EA will correct for account size and instrument(see known issues).
-----------------------------------------------------------------
MagicNumber = 4000;
Lot_Exponent = 1.0;
Pip_Step = 0;

Yes yes yes......there is an element of cost-averaging.....it is not martgingale. There is a limited amount of cost averaging, pretty much as much as you like. The risk is offset by the fact that this EA only trades with the dominant trend(H4 and D1). Also given the number of potential trades, you need to keep the trade sizes small anyway. Other protection include limiting the number of cost-average trades(see below). Also you can limit trades to once per bar thereby protecting you from spikes in price. My experience is that long slow trends are what kill accounts. Prices spikes tend to retrace quickly and are good for cost averaging. Anyway.....use it, don't use it.....your choice.

Pip_Step is ATR based. Given the multi-currency nature of the EA, I suggest leaving at default.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Order_Space = 0.5 Spacing for limit orders
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Stop_Space = 2.0 Spacing for stop orders
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Profit target in Pips

Pretty much what is says......I suggest leaving at default 0 as this will use ATR to determine a target.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
TP_ATR = 10;

Multiple of ATR for the setting of TP when profit target = 0
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Use_SL = true;

SL is set equal to TP. You cannot change this.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Use Trend_Exit

Uses a trend change to exit trades.....requires testing.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Cost Averaging only once per bar
Max cost averaging trades
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Minimum Margin Percent available for new trades

If you start having big drawdown, when the margin % falls below this level, no new trades will be entered although cost-average trades will continue to be made.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Trade Factor Higher = more trades 25

Does what it says.....
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Text_Color = clrWhite;

Does what it says..........

Known issues........

1. Lot sizing. I am still trying to get a handle on the lot sizing. Some instruments are unusual, specifically CFD's. There have non-standard tick sizes and different minlot sizes. I am working on this, but don't be surprised if you see an unusually large trade or very small trade. If you have any doubts, remove them from the marketwatch window.

2. Occasional invalid stops error. I suspect that this occurs in instruments where the normal spread exceeds the typical ATR values. The EA is correctly coded to check stop levels, etc but in certain extreme cases errors can occur......Once again, a work in progress. Remove the instrument if the error keeps on happening.

3. Multiple correlated trades. If a currency runs(eg JPY) it will open multiple JPY(CHFJPY,USDJPY,GBPJPY,AUDJPY)......and obviously this is an effective overexposure to one currency and my poses some risk management problems. It remains to be seen if the multiple instrument nature of the EA can offset this, or if a filter needs to be put in place.

Good luck and good trading

Settings :-

Catch_Pips_Fact= 2
Use_Catch_Pips = true
Use_Extend_Profit = true

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Time_Frame = PERIOD_M15;

Simple check to ensure that the chart TF matches the EA timeframe. Does nothing else.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Own_Symbol_Only = false;

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Initial_Lots = 0.1;

Money management applies so this trade sizing represents what will be trades in EURUSD on $10 000 account. EA will correct for account size and instrument(see known issues).
-----------------------------------------------------------------
MagicNumber = 4000;
Lot_Exponent = 1.0;
Pip_Step = 0;

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Order_Space = 0.5 Spacing for limit orders
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Stop_Space = 2.0 Spacing for stop orders
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Profit target in Pips

Pretty much what is says......I suggest leaving at default 0 as this will use ATR to determine a target.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
TP_ATR = 10;

Multiple of ATR for the setting of TP when profit target = 0
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Use_SL = true;

SL is set equal to TP. You cannot change this.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Use Trend_Exit

Uses a trend change to exit trades.....requires testing.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Cost Averaging only once per bar
Max cost averaging trades
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Minimum Margin Percent available for new trades

If you start having big drawdown, when the margin % falls below this level, no new trades will be entered although cost-average trades will continue to be made.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Supply and Demand forex trading by EnhancerSignals - 30 day free trial

Keep in mind that “Supply and Demand” is NOT the same as “support and resistance” (which is commonly used by novice traders) and in fact they rarely coincide. Supply and Demand is a concept that relies on objective information, prudent trading attitude, and advanced probability-stacking. It aims at identifying and obtaining low-risk entries (by buying above Demand levels, or selling below Supply levels), and is mainly used by advanced professional traders in many markets, including Forex.

Also note that although Supply and Demand level trading can be used by any trader (including active day traders), it also allows pre-planning of the trade setup much in advance of the anticipated trade entry and is also highly suitable for those that have full-time jobs. Levels can be identified and evaluated many hours or even days in advance, and pending orders can be used in order to execute high-probability trades.

Enhancer Signals provides pre-identified and pre-evaluated Supply and Demand levels for all the monitored Forex pairs, which are constantly updated and ready to use. Our 30-day Free Trial gives you access to all current signals immediately, along with the history of all past signals (with their original signal report, screenshots, and even after-trade commentary on performance). Also, don’t forget that the educational material on our website is provided for Free as an introduction and it is publicly accessible without registration.

The detailed educational articles can be freely accessed from the main menu, under the “Learn” category, without registration. If you need any help or have any questions, we will be very happy to help, so feel free to get in touch.
